Itinerary: Grand Tour from Fes 12-Day
DAY 1: FEZ WALKING TOUR
When you finish your delicious breakfast, we will meet you in Fes and start our guided tour of the old Medina. You will also make stops at a number of the city’s attractions to learn more about them and take pictures for mementos. You will have an amazing day at the oldest university in the world, the University of Al Qaraouine. You will see some significant locations during your guided tour, including the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum and the Boujeloud. After that, it will be your big chance to take a stroll through “the Mellah,” a popular Jewish neighborhood. Additionally, you will find the outside views of the king’s palace, and so forth. A quick visit to the renowned ceramics district is part of your Fez tour. Following that, you can enjoy an amazing sweeping view of Fez. You can spend the night at your Riad.
DAY 2: FEZ –IFRANE– MIDELT – ZIZ VALLEY – MERZOUGA DESERT (463 KM)
You will begin your Sahara Desert Tour from Fes after a delightful breakfast. After that, as we continue to travel toward the vast southeast, we will continue to Merzouga. The wonder cedar forest, which is located above the middle atlas and is most likely home to the Berber monkeys, is where you will observe that the middle atlas will also take a brief break. You will cross Tizi N’Telghamt after dining at Midelt, the middle Atlas Pearl. Additionally, while you are still in the open high desert, you will notice a change in the scenery as you approach the city of Errachidia. As you continue your journey, a brief introduction to the features of the desert is given. The Tafilalet date palm, which is well-known for its date plantations, and the Ziz Valley will be crossed on your journey. DAY 3: MERZOUGA AREA – CAMEL TREK AND OVERNIGHT IN A BERBER TENT
When we are done with breakfast, you will start your exploration of the area. You will next go and see the Gnawa people to experience their music and way of life. Originally transported from Sudan as slaves, the Gnawa people lived in the Americas. Not too distant is Merzouga Lake, home to a multitude of avian species. You may also visit the souk in Rissani, a traditional Moroccan town that was the starting point for the ruling family of the nation and the hub for caravans that made their way as far as Tombouctou, Mali, to transact business. This place is full of veiled women and men wearing hoods. You will have some downtime once you get back to the Merzouga village before getting back on your camel and exploring the Merzouga sand with the help of an experienced camel. You will spend the night at our desert camp, where dinner will be served. For your comfort, the camp is equipped with Western-style restrooms.
DAY 4: MERZOUGA DESERT – TODRA GORGES – PALM GROVES OF TINGHIR – DADES GORGES (271 KM)
Your camel guide will wake you up early so you can see the most breathtaking sunrise. Thereafter, the trip will be made back to Merzouga village. Along the way, you can witness the unique beauty of the Erg Chebbi dunes, which changes with the light of the day. After a Berber breakfast in your Riad, you will head for Morocco’s highest and narrowest gorges, the Rissani, Tinghir, and Todra gorges. We will travel through the Dades Valley after lunch in the gorge, where you can explore the amazing rock formations known as “monkey toes” and magnificent sand castles. We are going to spend the night in an opulent hotel overlooking Dades Valley.
DAY 5: DADES VALLEY – KASBAH AMRIDIL – PALM GROVES OF SKOURA – OUARZAZATE (140 KM)
After breakfast, we will check out of the hotel and cross several Berber villages, including Dades Gorges and Kelaat M’Gouna, on our way to Ouarzazate. Many photo opportunities can be found along the “panoramic road of the Thousand Kasbahs route through Dades Valley.” We will stop at Kelaat M’Gouna, also known as “the rose town,” to shop for items related to roses, like rosewater. Subsequently, we will take you via the Amridil Kasbah to Ouarzazate. There once lived a large number of Glaoui there. You are going to spend the night in Ouarzazate.
DAY 6: OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH – TIZI N’TICHEKA PASS – MARRAKECH (193 KM)
Following an early morning breakfast, we will depart from the Riad and head to the walled village of Ait Ben Haddou, where we will see the famous Kasbah, which was named a World Heritage Site in 1986. Films such as Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, and Sahara starring Penelope Cruz, and others have been shot on this amazing set. We will also take the Tizi N’Ticheka port, which is situated in High Atlas and is the highest point in our country at 2,260 meters, to get to Marrakech. We will pause along the route at a few distinctive vantage points to snap photos of the picturesque scenery and Berber villages. We will make your Riad in the Medina our place in the afternoon.
DAY 7: GUIDED TOUR OF MARRAKECH
A day to yourself in Marrakech to discover everything you have not yet seen: After breakfast in the Riad, you can explore a variety of historical and cultural sites, including the Koutoubia Minaret, the magnificent Palace of Bahia, and the Ben Youssef Koranic School. Spend the last part of the morning meandering through the medina’s narrow streets, where you can stop to see the many craftspeople at work, before arriving at the well-known Jemaa El Fna Square. Visit the Majorelle Gardens and Gueliz, Marrakech’s new city, in the afternoon; we will have lunch at a restaurant close to the square. You will get to enjoy activities like strolling around the square while being entertained by food vendors and magicians. We are going to stay the night in your Riad.
DAY 8: MARRAKECH – AMSKROUD – AGADIR (259 KM)
Go to Agadir, a stunning Moroccan coastal city renowned for its beaches, nightlife, and ancient culture, after we wake up in the morning. Top activities in Agadir include the following: We are going to the Kasbah of Agadir, a fortress from the 16th century that is situated atop a hill with a view of the city. Aside from offering breathtaking views, the summit is an excellent resource for learning more about the history and culture of the city. Next, we take a tour of the Souk, an energetic marketplace in Agadir where local sellers offer a wide range of goods, from spices to trinkets. You can sample some local cuisine or purchase a unique memento from this location. Lunch will be at one of the city’s well-known eateries. You can go to the beach to unwind: Agadir has some of Morocco’s best beaches, so why not spend the day lounging on the shore and taking in the stunning scenery? Additionally, visitors adore sandboarding: this is the ideal activity if you are seeking an adrenaline rush. In Agadir, many sandboarding businesses provide equipment and instruction. Afterward, we travel to the Valley of the Birds, a distinctive nature reserve situated not far from Agadir. The region is ideal for bird watching because it is home to hundreds of different species of birds. We can go on a camel ride on the beach in the afternoon. DAY 9: AGADIR – ESSAOUIRA (175 KM)
We will leave Fes in the morning to continue our grand tour of Morocco, heading toward Essaouira and its well-known fishing port, which is recognized as a World Heritage Site. Here, you can savor a delectable lunch at a neighborhood restaurant with a view of the ocean. After that, you will begin to explore the city’s old medina, the Jewish quarter (el Mellah), Scala, and traditional souks. There, you will find art galleries and traditional carpentry stalls, as well as an intriguing atmosphere and historic streets. After dinner and spending the night at the Riad or Hotel, you will watch the expansive sunset in the evening while sipping a glass of tea at one of the cafes in the main square.
DAY 10 : ESSAOUIRA – SAFI – OUALIDIA – ELJADIDA – CASABLANCA (377 KM)
We are going to discover the beauty of Morocco’s Coastal Sea, which makes that day special. We travel along the coast to the city of El-Jadida after breakfast. We will make our first stop in Safi, where you can stroll through the historic medina, the fishing port, and the well-known crafts. To experience the local way of life, visit the numerous stores and art galleries throughout the city. You can also take a boat trip to see the city from the sea, or you can visit the museum housed in the 17th-century Portuguese fort. After that, you travel to El-Jadida by way of Oualidia, a stunning seaside city with a fascinating past. When we get to El-Jadida, we will check out the Grand Mosque, the historic Portuguese fort, and the cobblestone streets of the old town. Do not pass up the opportunity to have lunch on some of the mouthwatering local seafood. After that, we will keep driving to Casablanca, where you will go on a guided sightseeing tour. The stunning Hassan II Mosque, situated on the edge of the azure sea, is the first sight to behold when visiting Casablanca. Among the largest mosques in the world is Hassan II Mosque. It represents Africa as well. You will be astounded by the exquisite design. DAY 11: CASABLANCA – RABAT – CHEFCHAOUEN (340 KM)
We are going to travel to Rabat, the Moroccan capital, after breakfast. The Hassan Tower and the Oudaya Kasbah will be visible to us together. Then, we will travel to Chefchaouen, which is in the center of Morocco. You will investigate in the northwest of Morocco, in the center of the Rif Mountains, sits Chefchaouen, also known as Chaouen, sometimes known as “the blue City.” It is a traditional Moroccan town. It’s an old town that has amazing buildings in various shades of faded blue and exudes. It is an air of refinement and cleanliness is well known. It is one of the cleanest cities on Earth, and everyone who lives there paints their homes blue. According to their beliefs, blue symbolizes the sky, which in turn serves as a reminder of God and heaven. You will experience a calm, cozy, and relaxed atmosphere while you are there.
Your trip to Chefchaouen will begin with a stroll along the blue streets, where you can take in the stunning blue doors, walls, and windows as well as the amazing side shops and many amazing picture opportunities that the old Medina has to offer. You will enjoy delectable northern Moroccan dishes for lunch. The historic Kasbah Ali Ben Rachid and Plaza Utah El-Hammam are the next places we visit. DAY 12: CHEFCHAOUEN – MEKNES – VOLUBILIS – FES (197 KM)
Following breakfast, we will travel to Fes, the intellectual center of Morocco and one of the country’s oldest cities if not the oldest. One of the Imperial Cities will be reached by today’s drive. The Sahrij Souani Basin, the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum, and the renowned Bab Mansour gate are located in Morocco, which is also referred to as “Meknes,” the Ismailia capital of Morocco. After lunch, we will visit Volubilis, a Roman city that is home to the remnants of the Romanian Empire. Here, you can see the beautifully preserved original buildings that date back ages, as well as the Roman road and city layout. We will pass by the revered City of Moulay Idriss to capture some priceless photos as we travel through the rural areas of Morocco. We eventually reach Fes.
When it comes time to depart, twelve days have passed since the Moroccan national holiday. After a 12-day tour, starting in Fes, Morocco, today is your last day in Morocco. We will drop you off at your residence or the airport.
